When consumed for the purposes of alleviating moderate to severe pain, Percocet can be an exceptionally beneficial medication for those who need it. However, when this prescription painkiller is consumed outside of the guidelines set forth by one’s physician, or if it is taken for non-medical reasons in order to achieve a mind and mood-altering high, the resulting effects can life-altering. This opioid medication is known for its highly addictive properties and can ensnare an individual into a potentially lethal pattern of substance abuse if treatment is not received. Before long, a person misusing this medication may find that he or she is unable to stop taking it, and may even resort to engaging in dangerous behaviors in order to acquire more of it. What is important to know, however, is that effective professional care can mitigate these risks and enable an individual to live a healthy, substance-free life.

In choosing to come to Acadiana Treatment Center, a person addicted to Percocet can gain the skills and confidence needed to live a sober life. We employ a staff of compassionate and dedicated professionals who are prepared to help men and women alike overcome this form of chemical dependency so that they can achieve to their highest potential. Furthermore, we offer evidence-based interventions that can prepare patients for living a life that’s free of Percocet abuse, and arm them with the resources they need to be successful long after leaving Acadiana. If you or an important person in your life would like to break free from the chains of Percocet addiction, give our helpful admissions team a call today.

Why Seek Rehab?

Why Seek Rehab for Percocet Addiction at Acadiana Treatment Center

A long-standing addiction to Percocet can make a person feel as if his or her life is on a non-stop downward spiral. Once this prescription medication takes hold of a person’s every thought and action, it can be exceedingly difficult to uphold responsibilities and tend to care for one’s self on a day-to-day basis. Furthermore, when an individual is in the throes of a Percocet abuse problem, being able to maintain relationships with others, one’s finances and one’s health becomes hard to do when Percocet is the focal point of one’s mind at all times. Unfortunately, the longer this type of substance abuse persists, the more health concerns will manifest, and the risk of polysubstance abuse and overdose increases exponentially. If treatment is delayed or not sound, an individual can succumb to a Percocet addiction, and be unable to live a long, healthy life. However, by seeking and receiving professional treatment from a rehab center, the aforementioned effects and any further damage caused by Percocet can be avoided altogether.

Learn About the Treatment Approaches We Use for Percocet Addiction at Acadiana

Acadiana Treatment Center provides a full range of effective treatment options for individuals who have been abusing or have become addicted to Percocet. When an individual comes to our facility, he or she will first undergo a full assessment that will determine his or her treatment needs and will help to establish the type and level of care that will best prepare him or her for continued success.

An intake counselor works closely with all new patients and their families to help them decide which level of care is best for them. The levels of care that we offer here at Acadiana Treatment Center include the following:

Detoxification is often the first stop for individuals who have become physically and psychologically dependent on a substance, such as Percocet. Our medically monitored detox program features around-the-clock supervision and is designed to ensure safe and comfortable withdrawal from all addictive substances. Once an individual has completed detox, he or she can then transition directly into the next phase of treatment.

The residential treatment program is for patients who have completed the detox process and are ready to begin the therapeutic stage of treatment for their addiction to Percocet. For those patients who do not require detoxification services, they may enter directly into residential programming. Patients in this program will still be under 24-hour supervision in order to ensure the safety of everyone at the center. This program will work to maintain stabilization by providing knowledge about addiction, the tools necessary to cope with life stressors, and the ability to identify relapse triggers. Patients are encouraged to take ownership of their recovery and to play an active role in the entire treatment process.

We also provide extended residential treatment for all patients who have previously completed primary care for an addiction to Percocet and who are stable enough to continue on with their recovery. Both extended programs are three months long, and each consists of three phases. Each phase is dedicated to enhancing the specific skills and knowledge needed to continue to be successful with a lifelong goal of sobriety.

Depending on an individual’s specific strengths, needs, and goals, the following elements may be included in the personalized treatment plan that will guide his or her progress while receiving residential care for an addiction to Percocet at Acadiana:

Individual therapy – Individual sessions, which are held at least once a week, provide clients with valuable one-on-one time with a therapist. Among the many benefits of individual therapy sessions are that patients can evaluate their progress, process successes and setbacks, address issues or concerns that they may have about their treatment, and receive personalized feedback from a qualified professional.

Group therapy – Group therapy is an essential element of treatment for Percocet addiction at Acadiana. Group sessions provide safe and supportive environments in which patients can share their thoughts and insights, learn from the experiences of others, and practice healthy communication skills, all under the guidance and supervision of an experienced professional. Groups can also serve as an excellent introduction to the power of the recovery community.

Family therapy – Family therapy can play a significant positive role in preparing a patient and his or her loved ones for continued success following the completion of treatment. During family therapy sessions, loved ones will have the opportunity to address how they have been impacted by the patient’s Percocet abuse and addiction, heal rifts and strengthen family bonds, and learn how best to support the patient’s ongoing recovery.

Family workshop – This is a three-day intensive workshop during which patients and their families learn about addiction and the recovery process. In addition to providing valuable education, this workshop also serves to make family members more comfortable with the concept of discussing difficult issues such as addiction in a productive, non-confrontational manner.

Experiential therapy: At Acadiana, we offer a variety of experiential programs that provide patients with creative or other hands-on means of expressing themselves and addressing issues that may have led to or been exacerbated by their Percocet abuse. During an individual’s time in residential treatment, he or she may participate in the following forms of experiential therapy:

  • Vocational planning
  • Meetings with a nutritionist
  • Art therapy
  • Spiritual counseling
  • Meditation
  • Acupuncture
  • Recreational therapy

Continuing Care

Percocet addiction treatment levels and continuing care

Upon successfully completing residential treatment at Acadiana, patients who are recovering from and addiction to Percocet will begin to follow the aftercare plan that the members of their treatment team began to develop the moment that they arrived at our center.

The main goal of the aftercare plan is to provide individuals with the opportunity to strengthen the skills that they learned in treatment to increase chances for more successful recovery. Depending on the nature and severity of the individual’s Percocet addiction, the presence of any co-occurring mental health disorders,  and the progress that the patient made while in treatment, the aftercare plan may include a referral to a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), or traditional community-based outpatient services.

For those who can benefit from structured step-down care, Acadiana offers treatment at both the PHP and IOP levels:

Partial hospitalization program (PHP): PHP at Acadiana features comprehensive treatment for each patient, including individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and a wide range of experiential activities. Onsite lodging is available for PHP patients, which allows for a more supportive and secluded healing environment.

Intensive outpatient therapy (IOP): IOP is a less-intensive treatment experience than PHP, with care offered in the evenings to allow patients to work, attend school, or otherwise reintegrate into the community. IOP patients at Acadiana typically participate in 10 hours of weekly therapy for up to five weeks. Treatment in IOP consists of psychoeducational/skills building groups, process groups, individual therapy, and family therapy.
