The primary focus of our addiction residential program is to help you to become emotionally stable, learn more about the disease of addiction, learn and develop recovery skills and resources, and adopt principles of recovery.
Learn more about the residential treatment program at Acadiana Treatment Center
Our highly rated residential program involves a thirty to ninety-day inpatient stay on our beautiful campus, where you can relax and focus your attention on what’s most important – getting sober. The length of your stay with us will be determined after we’re able to assess your specific needs. We want to make sure that you’re ready to re-enter the world after you leave Acadiana, so the length of time you’ll be with us will vary among individuals.
You’ll begin your rehab treatment in a medically monitored therapeutic environment where we’re able to monitor your medical, psychological, and security needs around the clock. We’ll make sure that you always have someone to lean on when you need us most.
What to expect during your time in our residential treatment program in Louisiana
When you come to us, you’ll work with your treatment team to create a plan of care for your stay. As we are a holistic rehab center, we’re focused on treating all of you – mind, body, and spirit. You’ll be assigned an individual counselor to monitor your progress as you meet – and exceed – identified treatment plan goals. As you near the end of your residential treatment, we’ll work with you to develop a continuing care plan, to ensure that there are no lapses in treatment and recovery. That may mean moving to another program with Acadiana, such as our PHP or IOP, or a discharge plan into your local community.
The importance of our residential program’s family-centered approach
We know that no one lives in a vacuum and we understand that addiction is a family disease. Acadiana Treatment Center recognizes the importance of family involvement in your treatment and recovery process. Family members and significant others are encouraged to participate in weekly educational programs so they can see the positive changes you make. Your loved ones will be scheduled to come to the Acadiana Treatment Center for several days and take part in structured educational and family counseling sessions.
Learn more about extended residential care at Acadiana Treatment Center
For men and women who have been struggling with chemical dependency and certain co-occurring conditions, residential programming can be a vital step on the path of lifelong recovery. However, at Acadiana Treatment Center, we are well aware that residential care is just one step, and many who complete this level of care still need additional structure and support as they continue on their recovery journey.
For example, depending upon the needs and goals of each person who completes residential care with us, our discharge plan may include referrals to partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), or traditional community-based outpatient services.
While PHP, IOP, and traditional outpatient services are ideal for many who complete residential programming, some individuals require even more intensive services in order to ensure that they establish a strong foothold in early recovery and are best prepared for long-term success. For these individuals, we are proud to offer an extended residential treatment option.
Increased Length of Stay
As its name implies, the extended residential care program provides additional time for men and women to receive the intensive care and around-the-clock supervision that makes our traditional residential services so effective.
The typical length of stay in residential care at Acadiana Treatment Center is 30 to 34 days. The extended residential treatment option significantly expands upon this, with a minimum enrollment period of 90 days. Multiple studies have established a strong correlation between the amount of time that an individual remains in treatment and the likelihood that he or she will achieve successful long-term recovery.
By spending at least 90 days in the extended residential program, an individual can dramatically improve the skills and strategies that he or she will need in order to pursue lifelong sobriety.
Extended residential treatment through Acadiana Treatment Center is provided in a gender-specific environment, so that men and women can receive focused care that is most appropriate for the ways that their lives have been impacted by addiction and co-occurring disorders, and that best addresses the lifestyle changes that they will need to make in order to live a healthier and more productive future, free from the constraints and limitations of substance abuse.
Both extended residential program options provide participants with a safe, structured, and highly supportive environment in which they can receive care that is customized not only to address gender-specific concerns, but also to continue to meet their specific personal strengths, needs, and goals.
Phases of treatment within Acadiana Treatment Center’s extended residential treatment program
In order to make the most effective use of the increased length of stay within the extended residential program, treatment at this level is divided into three phases, each of which lasts approximately 30 days. This phased approach is designed to promote a healthy and productive transition from the intensity of residential care to the autonomy and independence of post-treatment life.
The first phase is the most similar to traditional residential care, with participants remaining Acadiana Treatment Center, participating in a robust schedule of individual, group, and experiential therapies, and otherwise focusing primarily on their recovery.
During the second phase of extended residential treatment, participants will continue to receive significant clinical and therapeutic support, but they will also be encouraged and expected to take significant steps toward re-establishing a productive independent lifestyle. In addition to taking part in therapy at Acadiana Treatment Center and continuing to work the 12-Step program, phase two participants will also work, attend school, or hold a volunteer job within the community.
Phase three places the greatest emphasis on independence, responsibility, and accountability, as clients will continue their off-campus pursuits and may even request permission to spend an evening away from the center in the company of their families. During phase three, clients will continue to participate in therapy and receive guidance and support from experienced professionals at Acadiana Treatment Center, with such services designed to prepare them to make a healthy, productive, and beneficial return to their families and communities.
